Lynne Kells was born in Burwood Victoria in1966 and resides in Hawthorn.
Lynne’s artworks can often be described as intuitive, meditations about issues and concepts concerning her.
A favourite quote from Matisse is “Colour is your voice”. Lynne believes that through her artwork she is able to communicate from deep within her soul that which she is often unable to put into words. Colour makes her happy, lifts her mood and stimulates her mind.
Working in a variety of mediums including Acrylic, Watercolour, Alcohol ink and mixed media, Lynne has a focus on abstract and impressionist styles. Lynne has also exhibited Ceramics, Textiles and Sculpture. Due to her MS, Lynne has had to change her style to accommodate her abilities.
Due to her ancestry (The Book of Kells), Lynne is inspired by Celtic art, shapes and patterns and their significance. She is a member of two studios: Nova Art and Studio A and a member of MAVA Collective and Boroondara Creative Network.
Not trained in Art in the traditional sense, a Diploma of Social Science/Arts from Melbourne University included Art, Dance, Drama, Literature, and Music and awakened an urge to further her art career which began when living in Adelaide.
Lynne loves to explore new techniques and media, learning from others such as the artists exhibiting and studios tenants at Kinross Arts Centre at Toorak, where she volunteers helping with administration, promotion, curation of exhibitions and hosting events.
Lynne has participated in many exhibitions including Rotary Camberwell and Knox Art Shows, MS Connect Art Shows and Connected at Federation Square with works in the Neami and Monash City Council collections.
